March 13, 2020 the quiet before the storm it kind of feels like. I lost my job today. I kind of knew it was coming fast. The white house shut down travel to and from China a couple weeks ago and it's amazing what a difference it has made to the bay area. Traffic is much lighter, fewer people everywhere. What now? Pandemic in 2020 really!

March 19th - California Governor Gavin Newsom ordered “all individuals living in the State of California to stay home or at their place of residence” to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus disease. WOW, lines to get into the few stores that are open- grocery- hardware (essential places) during the California lock down that was just announced. Once you get in selves are empty of a lot of things. Who would have known toilet paper is like gold during a pandemic. Major shortage right now. Pasta, rice rubbing alcohol, beach all gone! Lines outside the store then lines to check out! What is great is people are very patient. I think it's because everyone except essential workers are getting their sleep during locked down. How long is this going to last!

March 19 Italy's military deployed to transport bodies of those killed by coronavirus outbreak. This is terrible they just had images of military trucks rolling down the city streets with bodies of victims Covid-19. Crematories are totally full! The military is moving the bodies to outlining crematories and storage. Just shocking to see in this day and age. The world is starting to lock down fast. The virus has been among us and lack of action has cost lives. "There is so much we don't know" is what the scientist are saying. Horrible - loved ones can not even be with their loved ones in the hospital. Hospitals are on full lock down only staff and patients. Families are saying their goodbyes to loved ones by walkie-talkies, phones and ipads. My god how hard that must be. That's the patients that are still able to communicate. Many patients are put under so they can be on ventilator. A crazy amount of patients that go on a ventilator don't make it. A ventilator is all they have to help patients and it has a 80 some percent chance patients don't survive!

The legislators passed a couple bills to help people stay home during the lock down of the country. A payment of $1,200 is to go to taxpayers. An extra $600 per week is added to unemployment checks. Businesses are to get loans and money to keep paying employees during the shutdown. Let's see if it works out as they are promoting it.

10 April 2020- New York has more cases than any country, here we go! How bad is this going to be! One city here in the U.S. has more causes than other large countries? How did that happen! With all the resources this country has we couldn't stop the virus even though we knew it was coming for over 2 months?

Apr 22, 2020 I haven't received any unemployment funds to date. I filed over a month ago and nothing. Millions are in the same boat. Many can't even get on their States unemployment website because the sites keep crashing. No funds, no one answers the phone, email are not answered - Just compete over load. Our government can not respond to the needs at hand. Now I understand my grandparents frugality. They lived through the great depression. I hope we don't get to soup lines on the street! Maybe it is just that already. Kids are not going to school so they don't have access to the meals they would get. School districts are stepping up and providing lunches with drive by pick up. Also over 10 million people are out of work and unemployment services has not been able to get checks to people. The news was showing 1.5 mile-long line of cars waiting to pick up food at a food bank. So fast the country is cracking and we now truly see what it is made of.

April 1, 2020 - It seems all of my friends and family are taking the virus seriously. That helps me not worry so much about them. I have a very small circle and to lose anyone to the virus would really be terrible. No hospital visit, no funeral, no gathering of family and friends to morn. Just terrible, my best wishes go out to those that have had to go through a death during Covid-19. I'm not a worrying kind of person but this virus has changed me. The virus has taken the very things humans need. It is desensitizing, numbing us to death and loss so quickly. The news reporters are having a hard time moving between stories of loss, numbers and other news. They are moving so fast they can't change the mood appropriately for the content of the story making it just another blip of news. Humans need appropriate presentation of serious subjects to feel the gravity of the story being told. It's like saying don't run out in front of the truck and then giving a kid a ice cream cone. Doesn't work - I kind of feel like people a enjoying the ice cream and the truck is barreling down the road.

Aug, 13 2020. I'm hearing all these news reports that staff at hospitals don't have the ppe they need to stay safe. This is so crazy additionally the congress didn't pass a bill to give states money needed to survive the pandemic and now there is expected a tsunami of lay offs of front-line and essential workers coming. This means if your not laid off then your work load becomes even larger and more difficult! Not to mention public safety and health are sure to get worse. This months into the pandemic and flu season right around the corner. What a failure of leadership! Throw them all out!

July 31 2020, Congress did not extend the additional $600 unemployment benefits. Now the just took 30 million Americans out of a consumer based economy and pushed millions of people closer to homelessness. Covid-19 is not contained and worse now then the beginning of the virus. Over 150,000 Americans dead from the virus. No national plan still! They are pushing for reopening everything when the virus is getting worse! We are considered expendable! These elected representatives walk around and on the T.V. with no mask because they and the people around them are tested all the time making people thing the virus is not a problem. Please Lord give us an ounce of intelligence or a vaccine!
